Bergen is located in Fjord Norway, which is famous for its unspoiled nature and stunning fjords which has won many awards, two of the fjords were appointed to the world's best managed world heritage sites in 2006 and the world's most iconic destinations by National Geographic Travelers Magazine in 2009. The region consists of the four counties of Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn & Fjordane and Møre & Romsdal, and is located in the western part of Norway. With the help of a well-developed communications, it is easy to go to Fjord Norway from abroad, but also to travel around the region. Together with support from the Norwegian government, Fjord Norway has come a long way in its sustainability efforts. They have developed a regional "white book" with established criteria for sustainable thinking in adventure travel and have a 10-year project in place with the aim to develop the region as a leading adventure destination with a focus on sustainability.

Food and drinks

The Norwegian cuisine has largely been characterized by what is available in the country, where the landscape is dominated by mountains, wilderness, grazing land and sea. Norwegian cuisine is different in many ways from their continental counterparts, where it is more common with fish and dairy products. Today it is still common with traditional food such as meatballs and fish, but also with food like pasta and pizza because of the globalization.

Weather and climate

The Norwegian climate is characterized by the northern part of the Gulf Stream, the great height differences and the country's long extent in the north-south direction. Because of the sea temperature, the coastline has mild winters and relatively cool summers. It differs very much between the north and south of Norway, but winters are usually cold and summers mild with the warmest period in July.
